Weird Dog Products That Actually Exist
A bacon bubble machine, a dinosaur bathrobe and an umbrella on a leash. Humanity peaked.

The dog product aisle is a strange and beautiful place. Somewhere, a person designed an umbrella that attaches to a dog. Somewhere else, a person looked at bubbles and thought, “What if bacon?”
We went looking for the weirdest dog products you can actually buy in Canada, with one rule: weird is fine, harmful is not. Everything here is a real listing on Amazon.ca that we opened on 2026-09-27. We haven’t tested any of it. Details come from the listings themselves, and prices are what those pages showed that day. Price checked 2026-09-27.

For the Dog Who Refuses to Get Wet
The dog umbrella. The Lesypet Dog Umbrella is a clear dome on a stick with a short leash built in. It’s for small pets only; the listing says it suits a back length under 19 inches. The maker also admits some dogs are scared of it at first and need encouragement. So, like every umbrella, it’s mostly a trust exercise.
The balloon boots. Pawz boots are natural rubber booties that look exactly like someone put tiny balloons on your dog’s feet. They come 12 to a pack, have no zippers or straps, and the listing calls them reusable and biodegradable. The first few steps are a slapstick routine. That’s not a con. That’s content.
The dinosaur bathrobe. Post-bath, your dog can now lounge like a retiree at a spa, in a microfibre robe shaped like a blue dino with two paw-drying gloves. Useful? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely not. Buying one anyway? We can’t stop you.
For the Dog With Hobbies
The bacon bubble machine. The Bubbletastic Bacon Bubble Machine comes with an 8 oz bottle of bacon-scented bubbles. The maker says the formula is non-toxic and tear-free. Your dog gets a sport. Your neighbours get a mystery.
The squirrel tree. The Outward Hound Hide-A-Squirrel is a plush tree trunk with three squeaky squirrels stuffed inside. Your dog pulls them out. You put them back. Your dog pulls them out again. It’s a puzzle toy for the dog and a part-time job for you. Outward Hound’s own listing reminds you that no toy is indestructible, so supervise.
The hamburger. This 3-in-1 hamburger dog bed is a plush burger-bun pit with mini plush toppings to dig through: tomato, cheese, patty, pickle and onion. Your dog climbs in and becomes the burger. It’s a generic-brand listing, so double-check size and stock before you commit.
Weird is welcome here. Pain isn’t. Everything on this page passes one test: your dog has a better day because of it.
For the Dog With Opinions
The talking buttons. The Hunger for Words Talking Pet Starter Set gives you four recordable buttons for words like “outside,” “play” or “bed.” The listing says it was developed by speech therapist Christina Hunger and includes a step-by-step teaching guide. How much a dog “means” when they press a button is a question for the researchers. What’s certain: you just gave your dog a doorbell to your attention. Choose the words wisely.
The sunglasses. Tiny dog goggles with polycarbonate lenses, a soft rubber frame and chin strap. The listing pitches them for sun, wind, snow and dust. Size S is built for small breeds, and the maker says to measure first. Introduce them slowly, with treats, and never force the look. Cool is optional. Comfortable isn’t.
For the Human With White Floors
The paw washer. The Dexas MudBuster is a cup lined with soft silicone bristles. Add water, dunk a paw, twist, dab dry, repeat three more times. It looks like a travel mug, which will cause exactly one terrible morning in your household. Label it.
What Didn’t Make the Cut
Some things are weird in the wrong way. We skipped:
- Anything that “corrects”: bark collars, spray collars, “stim” gadgets and similar. If a product works by making your dog uncomfortable, it’s not a fun find. It’s a problem with a bow on it. (Here’s why: Shock Collars Don’t Teach. Here’s What the Research Says.)
- Products sold on health or calming claims, like anxiety wraps and hearing-protection muffs. They might be great. They’re also a conversation for your vet, not a novelty list.
- Listings we couldn’t open on a Canadian retailer page. If we couldn’t check it, it’s not here.
A Few Ground Rules for Weird Stuff
- Introduce new gear slowly. Pair anything wearable (boots, goggles, robes) with treats and short sessions.
- Watch the first play sessions. Plush toys and small parts are fun until they’re swallowed.
- Let your dog vote. If they hate it, it goes in the donation bin. No “they’ll get over it.”
That’s the kind of weird we celebrate: no zaps required. For more gift ideas with a Canadian price tag, see Funny Gifts for Dog People, Canadian Edition.

Your dumb questions
Did you test all of these on a dog?
No. This is a research roundup built from the product listings, which we opened and read on 2026-09-27. Product details come from those pages.
Why are there no anti-bark or ‘correction’ gadgets on this list?
Because we only list things that make a dog’s day more fun, not more painful. Weird is welcome. Zaps are not.
Are the prices current?
They were the Amazon.ca prices shown on 2026-09-27. Prices on Amazon change often, so check before you buy.
Will my dog actually wear sunglasses?
Some will, some won’t. Go slow, pair them with treats, and take them off if your dog is uncomfortable.
